While everyone was trying to play coy on Monday, there’s little doubt that Chicago Blackhawks captain Connor Bedard will make his season debut against the Pittsburgh Penguins tomorrow night.
“I would say he’s certainly trending towards being a coach’s decision tomorrow night,” head coach Jeff Blashill said with a sheepish grin. “Certainly trending towards looking like he’s got the possibility to play.”
Bedard wouldn’t confirm his return either, but he spent the last two days taking all the rushes on the first line and top power-play unit without restriction. After Monday’s practice, the playful smile while talking to reporters was all you needed to know.
“I want to play as soon as possible,” he said. “Whenever that is, we’ll see. I feel normal. I’m comfortable with everything, contact. I’m excited to keep building and get going here.”
