LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The injury bug spreading across NFL training camps arrived at Halas Hall on Monday during the first day of pads and in the middle of 1-on-1 drills.
Safety Coby Bryant – one of the most important players on the roster – went down.
It happened during a competitive rep against tight end Cole Kmet. There wasn’t much contact, while Kmet made a contested catch with Bryant in tight coverage.
But Bryant suffered an injury during it. He grabbed his left knee. He attempted to put weight on his left leg and walk off the field but went down and became emotional. Bryant’s teammates consoled him before a cart carried him off and away from Field 4, the furthest field from Halas Hall.
ESPN later reported that Bryant is expected to miss eight to 10 weeks with a hyperextended knee, a bone bruise and a small fracture.
