The Chicago Blackhawks have signed 2025 first-round draft pick Anton Frondell to a three-year, entry-level deal. The deal carries a $975,000 cap hit.
Frondell, the third overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, will play for Djurgårdens in Sweden this season, with a focus on improving his consistency and overall game. He is also expected to compete in the World Junior Championships this winter. If everything goes well, he could join Chicago in mid-March after his SHL season ends.
“We were ecstatic to get Anton,” GM Kyle Davidson said after the draft. “I think he’s a great complement to our group that we have now. He’s got the chance to be a really exciting goal scorer in this league. I couldn’t be more thrilled with adding him to the organization.”
The 18-year-old forward scored 25 points (11 goals, 14 assists) in 29 games with Djurgårdens and was named HockeyAllsvenskan’s Rookie of the Year. He also tallied one goal and two assists in five games at the 2025 IIHF World U18 Championship.
