The first offseason piece of business for Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson is done, as forward Ryan Donato has signed a four-year, $16 million deal to remain with the Chicago Blackhawks.
Donato, 29, enjoyed a career season last year, tallying 31 goals and adding 31 assists in 80 games for the Hawks.
“[Donato] brings energy and competes hard every game, which has been a huge asset to our team over the last two seasons,” Davidson said in a press release. “He’s been a crucial part of our offense, and we’re excited for Ryan to continue to make a difference in our lineup for the next four years.”
With Donato in the fold, the Blackhawks have a bit of security in case they are unable to bring in a top-six winger this summer via free agency or trade.
What could be a busy offseason is just beginning for the Blackhawks.
