After the NHL experienced their least-watched Winter Classic ever in 2023 between the Seattle Kraken and Vegas Golden Knights, it seemed the league wanted to go back to the well that had proven to be a ratings-draw in the past: the Chicago Blackhawks. Unfortunately for the NHL, this version of the Chicago Blackhawks is nowhere near the draw that the organization used to be.
On Thursday evening, the ratings for the 2024 (2025) Winter Classic were released showing that a staggeringly-low 920,000 viewers watched the St. Louis Blues pummel the Blackhawks 6-2 at Wrigley Field on TNT and truTV, peaking with 1.2M viewers.
