Matt Eberflus' late-game clock mismanagement indefensible as firing chatter reaches new high

How the Chicago Bears head coach handled the final 32 seconds of the game after Caleb Williams was sacked on second-and-20 is indefensible.
Williams lost six yards on the sack, and the offense was now in a third-and-26 situation, trailing by three to the Detroit Lions. The rookie quarterback waited for the play call as precious time ticked off the clock. Williams said after that game that he changed the play when there were 13 seconds left in the play clock to "try to get it snapped and take the shot."
There was only time left to give Rome Odunze an opportunity downfield, but the ball fell incomplete as the clock expired. Game over.
