The Chicago Blackhawks snapped their four-game losing streak with a big 5-2 over the Colorado Avalanche, who had won their previous five games. The key to victory was the Blackhawks playing a structured game and sticking to it until the final horn.
The action-packed first period saw five combined goals. Philipp Kurashev opened the scoring with a power-play goal, but it was answered quickly by Casey Middlestadt, who has seven points in his last three games.
