The investment into the future of the Chicago Blackhawks continued on Friday afternoon. Following a 4-2 win over the San Jose Sharks in Chicago, the Blackhawks announced a new two-year contract extension for young forward Landon Slaggert. The two-year extension runs through the 2026-27 season and comes with a $900,000 AAV. Both years of the contract extension are one-way years.
Slaggert, 22, was a 2020 third-round draft pick by the Blackhawks and played the last four seasons in the NCAA with Notre Dame. He skated in 136 games for the Irish in his college career, amassing 92 points and serving as the Captain in his Senior season last year.
Following the end of his college career, Slaggert joined the Blackhawks for the final stretch of the 2023-24 season, playing in 16 games and recording four points, including his first career NHL goal.
Slaggert has started his first full professional season with the Rockford IceHogs in the AHL this season and recorded an assist in their season-opening win on October 12.
