The 2024-25 season is the most important in Rockford IceHogs’ franchise history. They have never had this many vital prospects on their roster since they became the Chicago Blackhawks American Hockey League affiliate back in 2007. With the influx of recent draft picks, the organization is looking for the IceHogs to develop this core of prospects. Under the Stan Bowman regime, Rockford seemed more like an afterthought than a pivotal part of the organization.
General manager Kyle Davidson is using his AHL squad to prepare his future core of players for the pressure and grind of the NHL. There are plenty of reasons to be excited about their season but wins and losses are not the primary goal.
