Good morning, Cubs fans
I’ll be the first to admit, I was on the side of the Cubs bringing back Kyle Hendricks this season.
Last season, the guy came back from a pretty serious shoulder injury that kept him from starting a big league game for nearly 11 months, and he went out and put together his best season since 2019 (in a full, 162-game slate). He was a stabilizing force for that rotation. So, to pick up his option for $16.5 million in 2024 felt like an easy decision to me.
Not operating in hindsight, I still think it made sense.
But obviously, the move hasn’t worked out.
