The 2023 campaign ended in disaster, collapsing in September as their last playoff appearance in a full season remains back in 2018.
This year's roster isn't all that different. The Cubs did add Shota Imanaga to replace (and maybe surpass?) Marcus Stroman's contributions, and Héctor Neris and Yency Almonte join a bullpen that couldn't stay strong through the end of the year. They're planning to start Michael Busch at first base to begin the year, hoping to find something in a top-100 prospect who couldn't find time on the Dodgers.
