Welcome to the CHGO Chicago Marathon Podcast, a podcast dedicated to our city’s biggest race and the unique culture that surrounds it on the second Sunday in October.
The Chicago Marathon winds through 29 of our 77 neighborhoods and has become an inextricable part of the city experience. Over 45,000 runners are expected at the starting line on Sunday, October 8 while another 12,000 will volunteer and thousands of others will line the course to yell and scream their support.
After years of watching and admiring those who sign up for all 26.2 miles, I’m finally lacing up my shoes for the challenge and intend to take you along for the ride. We’ll talk to runners of all levels while also seeking out infuential voices in the marathon space and exploring the race’s rich history with those who come back year after year.
It all starts with our first episode on Tuesday, June 13.
