If you’re looking for bright spots in the Bears’ 27-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night, here’s a spoiler alert: They were few and far between.

Let’s take a look at the report card for Matt Eberflus’ 1-1 team.

Quarterback — D

Justin Fields has to be better. Let’s not be afraid to say it. Yes, Luke Getsy needs to give him more opportunities but Fields needs to capitalize on them as well.Fields missed Mooney on a deep ball that could have given the Bears some momentum. Fields was 3-yards over the line of scrimmage when he flipped a pass to Equanimeous St. Brown. Through two games Bears fans are still wondering — or should be — if they indeed have their quarterback of the future. 

Offensive line — C 

Teven Jenkins flashed again with his physicality. Larry Borom flashed the other way, getting manhandled multiple times. Sam Mustipher should not be blamed for the one snap that Fields didn’t handle cleanly but it would be nice to get Lucas Patrick healthy and playing the position he was signed to play. The run blocking was decent but David Montgomery did a lot on his own to pile up 

Wide receiver/tight end:  D- 

Perhaps it is not fully their fault, but just another disappointing game. Cole Kmet had a drop and has yet to catch a ball. The natives are getting rightfully restless. Darnell Mooney caught one ball behind the line of scrimmage and lost four yards on the play. At least Ryan Griffin had a catch and St. Brown had 2, hence not an F. Save us Velus Jones, you’re our only hope. 

Running back — A 
David Montgomery cannot get enough credit for almost bringing the Bears back by himself. Montgomery broke tackles and displayed a shiftiness that is reserved for elite running backs. Fifteen carries for 122 yards is 8.1 yards a clip. Quite the performance. Why did they not use him at the goal line??! Come on Luke Getsy. 

Defensive / Linebackers:  D
Don’t look now cause there goes Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon through the Bears defense with ease once again. Missed tackles, poor discipline while getting as well as getting run over was tough to watch. Roquan Smith did not help himself in any future contract negotiations. 

Secondary: D 

The Packers picked on Kyler Gordon both in the run game and the pass game. Gordon is being asked to do a lot playing the slot corner so it is going to look bad at times and Sunday night was one of those nights. Sammy Watkins beat Gordon multiple times and Gordon did not set the edge in the run game as well. Eddie Jackson did not give help over the top either and the old Jackson tackling methods were on display. Hope and pray was the winner over a solid wrap up form tackle. 

Special Teams B+
Josh Blackwell flashed as a gunner on punt coverage. Trenton Gill was great. Four punts with a average of 49.5 yards per punt. Cairo Santos made a 44-yard field goal. Trestan Ebner and Ihmir Smith-Marsette do not have to take out every kick off and can be more decisive when they do.
